The Ketchikan CHARR Educational Fund Salmon Derby scholarship program will award one or more scholarships this year. The funds are to be used to defray the cost of textbooks and tuition in an accredited university, college, or post-secondary vocational school within the State of Alaska. Upon confirmation of the recipient’s enrollment by a qualified school, the scholarship funds will be sent directly to the institution as a credit for the recipient in the current academic year.

The Ketchikan Garden Club may award two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to the applicant(s) that the Ketchikan Garden Club scholarship committee deems worthy of such an award.

Summer 2024 Semester Award

The UAS Ketchikan 2024 Summer Semester Tuition Waiver Scholarship is offered to UAS Ketchikan students enrolled in a UAS Ketchikan summer semester class. A tuition waiver scholarship is a credit toward the tuition you are charged to attend UAS; it is not a cash scholarship. A tuition waiver will not cover fees or books associated with your courses. This award is not applicable to any other UA campus courses.

We are pleased to provide this opportunity for additional financial assistance to help fund education at UAS Ketchikan and encourage you to speak with an advisor about other funding opportunities.

Completed applications must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

2024 - 2025 Academic Year Awards. University of Alaska Foundation scholarships are available to students attending any campus of the University of Alaska (Anchorage, Fairbanks, Southeast, and all community campuses). Applications must be received by February 15th to be considered for most scholarships. Any applications received through July 30th will be used for any late-awarded scholarships or any new scholarship that may open up.

How to apply for a UA Foundation scholarship:

1. Go to the UA Foundation Scholarships Page through UAOnline
2. Login to UAOnline using your UA username and password.
3. Select 'Student Services & Account Information'.
4. 'Select Scholarships' to begin applying through Kaleidoscope.

Once logged in, complete the general application questions to be considered for standard scholarships. After finishing and submitting the general application you will be given a list of other opportunities for which you may qualify. Select the apply button to review the additional criteria and questions for these additional opportunities. Make sure you submit each of the supplemental questions to be considered for the additional scholarships.

The Lund Scholarship Foundation provides Ketchikan-area high school graduates or GED recipients funding for maritime classroom training and education. The submission deadlines on the application (June 15 for fall semester/December 1 for spring semester) are exclusive to the Cal Maritime program.

UAS Applicants should apply for the scholarship at least thirty days prior to beginning a course of study/training. All individuals must present with a letter indicating the intent for the scholarship request along with a letter of acceptance or proof of registration.

PITAAS is a teacher preparation program for Alaska Natives at the University of Alaska Southeast. Freshmen and sophomore students interested in the program are eligible for scholarships towards language and culture classes at UAS.
